Frequently Asked Questions

Question: When should I join the Miami FSC?

Answer: You can join at any time.  Skaters under 18 must also join with a parent or guardian.  Typically your coach will advise you to join because you are ready for USFS testing (Pre Preliminary, Adult Pre Bronze, etc). The club provides official USFS Testing and this is one of the major advantages of club membership.

Question: What are the types of membership?

Answer:

Skaters eighteen (18) years of age or older. These members shall be eligible to hold office, to serve on the Board

of Directors, to chair committees and to vote.

The member will receive an individual U.S. Figure Skating membership card, a U.S. Figure Skating lapel

pin (first year only).

The current version of the U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook (if the member is at the Juvenile Level or above).

on the Board of Directors, or chair committees.

At least one parent/guardian from that family who will represent the interests of the above mentioned

skaters under 18.

More than one (1) parent/guardian may join this class of membership and each may be eligible to hold

office and to serve on committees. However, only one (1) parent/guardian per family shall be eligible to

vote and only one (1) Officer per family is allowed.

The parents membership automatically terminates when the youngest skater in the family becomes

eighteen (18) years old, or when all skaters under eighteen (18) years old in the family cease to be Club

members. Parents may continue their membership under the Associate Membership class.

Each family member will receive an individual U.S. Figure Skating membership card, and U.S. Figure

Skating lapel pin (first year only).

Question:  My coach says I am ready for USFS testing.  What do I do now?

Answer:  Test Applications are available on this website in the download section or in the Kendall Ice Arena Skating Academy Office.  Fill out the test applications before the deadline to be sure that you reserve a testing slot.  Test sessions fill up rapidly. Your coach must sign the application certifying that you are test ready.  If you are a minor your parent or guardian must also sign the application.  A check or money order must accompany the application.  The Club does not accept credit card payments. Non Home Club members may test (Space allowing) provided that they have a permission to test letter from their home club. See the question below about how to prepare for "Test" day.
