We Do More Than Skate!

MDPD Making Strides.jpg

Although all of our skaters are amazing athletes, each of them are much more than just skaters.

For the last several years, MFSC members have participated as members of the Miami Dade Police Department's "Police Power In Pink" team in the annual American Cancer Society breast cancer campaign.  During this year's campaign, hundreds of MDPD personnel and their families held dozens of fundraising events -- and they raised more than $60,000 for breast cancer research this year alone!

The picture was taken on October 27, 2018 at the annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk at Marlins Park.  Front row center, holding the symbolic heart is Sandy Spivak, a retired MDPD employee and one of the department's many breast cancer survivors.

On either side of Sandy are MFSC athletes Danielle Cooner, Ariana Silva-Falcon, and Isabella Martin.  Our three girls, and Isa's brother Patrick, manned the sales and information table during the walk and raised hundreds of dollars for research.  This picture was chosen for prominent display in the recently-published 2018 Edition of the Miami Dade Police Department annual report.
